About Me

Hello! I’m Melanie, a devoted yoga, mobility, and movement specialist, passionate about mindfulness. A yoga teacher online and in Kuala Lumpur, I started as a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Registered teacher and certified Functional Range Conditioning movement specialist (FRCms). Additionally, I’m a certified Pre and Postnatal Core Exercise Specialist (PCES), specializing in women’s health and core function.

A Passion for Movement

I adore various activities—weightlifting, tennis, running, and more. Personally enjoying this variety, I grasp the joy of moving well and pain-free, forming the core of my teachings. Over 20 years ago, my yoga journey began as a fitness pursuit, uncovering its profound impact beyond the mat. With over a decade of teaching and a business background, my yoga approach is grounded in real-world balance.

Yoga and mindful movement have been my sanctuary, providing an escape from the chaos of a hectic lifestyle. This practice heightened my awareness of how breath influences both mind and body, bringing harmony to the demands of daily life.

My teaching philosophy empowers individuals to move and feel better. I advocate for better breathing techniques for everyone. Specializing in an interconnected approach, I guide individuals from the big toe up to their heads. Emphasizing strengthening and cultivating improved movement strategies, I address the body as a cohesive and integrated system.

Learning through Aches and Pains

Navigating Challenges – My own Struggles

In my journey, I’ve faced various physical setbacks—fractured vertebrae, hamstring tendinopathy, yoga-induced discomfort, shoulder injuries, finger dislocation, pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy, an emergency cesarean section, significant diastasis recti, and a recent diagnosis of a desmoid tumor. Last year, I underwent surgery to remove 80% of my rectus abdominal muscle, replaced by a mesh. These experiences give me deep insight into living with pain and injuries, fostering empathy. Despite hurdles, I’m an overall movement optimist, embracing each challenge as an opportunity for growth.

Specialized Expertise

Certified in prenatal and postnatal training and as a Pre and Postnatal Core Exercise Specialist (PCES), my training in Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) emphasizes a joint-by-joint approach, prioritizing happy joints for longevity. My dedication to learning ensures my teachings incorporate the latest research in healing, health, and wellness.

Beyond Teaching

Becoming a mother in 2021 was a significant milestone, and my personal struggles with fertility and postpartum recovery have deepened my commitment to women’s health. My recent surgery and recovery has solidified my resolve to help people manage pain and build better movement strategies. I offer personalized, one-on-one sessions, both in-person and online, tailoring each class to the individuals needs – not a ‘see what sticks’ approach. Get in touch with me now!
